Tactile visions!
Cherished objects!
Transcending words!
Hopeful sounds!
Buoyant evolution!
Teeter-tottering between art and design, contemplating function and form, merging the ordinary with the amusing, and blending the practical with the impractical is July’s favorite past time.
Her approach to the design arts is founded on the notion that through our human interaction—with our senses, such as touch, and a dash of imagination—we bring objects to life. By engaging with objects we love, we essentially animate them into having a meaningful role in our human experience.
At Parsons School of Design, studying in Paris and New York City, she earned a BFA degree in Fashion Design and a minor in Fashion Studies. During and after the program, she’s explored her curiosity for psychology, philosophy, astrology, and spirituality. These varied influences animate her approach to the arts. She’s noticed how the ubiquity and accessibility of mass-produced clothing has led to a disconnection between people and their understanding of the true value of what we choose to adorn our bodies with. Building up from these ideas, she’s ultimately creating her own multi-media vision including art, wearable design, communication design, writing, video, and music to capture an assortment of interconnected ideas—always aiming to uplift.

July is pronounced like the month

As an artist, July Londono is fundamentally influenced by the array of domestic, street, and natural scenery she has encountered in the four cities she has lived in—Cartagena, Miami, Paris, and New York City. Finding herself submerged in a sea of stone, tall buildings, and concrete in one moment, and being immersed in lush greenery, sprawling plots of fruitful land, and houses in another, she’s gained a conception of the different ways that people engage with and become integrated into the scenery they inhabit. In her work, she pays special attention to the interactions between designed objects, the human form, and the scenery they are placed in.
